Connecting with Continental Tire Engineers from Budapest, Hungary
Today, we had the great opportunity to meet with several robotics engineers from Continental Tire in Budapest, Hungary. They showed us how they can start their robots remotely in real-time. They also talked about what it takes to get a job like this and what kind of education and experience you need. They told us to think about what your program needs to do before you just start programming. They also showed us their graphical user interface. We learned that they have close to 600 locations worldwide. They told us about the history of the country of Hungary starting from the ninth century to the present. They also showed us how their autonomous mobility and safety work. They talked about the value of having robots working instead of humans because there is no downtime with human sickness called hermes cobots collaborative robots. Mr. Avalos talked about the challenge they gave the Budapest team for their first industrial line ever. The challenge was to be totally robotic with no humans inside the line. A collaborative robot has lots of sensors and can stop when it senses a human in the way. They talked about how they began designing the line using goals,2D and 3D modernly. They also talked about all the iterations they went through. They told us about how they “teach” the robots. Then they showed us how the robots relay and hand off to each other, and showed us how the grippers work with pressured air. They also talked about programmable logic controllers.
