Phi – Relic Recovery

Phi – Relic Recovery

The Golden Ratio – #12682

Our Robot: Phi (Φ)

Φ, spelled “phi” (fī), is the Greek symbol for the Golden Ratio.

Phi is capable of performing all tasks in this year’s game. During the autonomous period, Phi will sense and push off the correct jewel and then, reading the pictograph, will place a glyph in the correct column, afterwards parking in the safe zone. Phi’s drivetrain is an eight-wheeled tank drive with four motors using chains to deliver torque to all eight wheels. This allows Phi to maneuver quickly around the field during the driver-controlled period and have no difficulty getting on or over the balancing stones. Phi’s glyph system uses a wheeled intake to pull in a glyph, it then flips its intake 180 degrees and uses the other set of wheels to grab another glyph, then a chain pulley lifts the glyphs to the desired height and places them in the crypto box. This system allows our drivers to easily, accurately, and swiftly fill an entire crypto box with a cypher pattern, still leaving time to balance on the balancing stone. Phi is also equipped with a relic grabber that is capable of grabbing and placing an upright relic in the farthest area of the relic recovery zone.
